This is an example of phosphenes appearing in a chaotic pattern over the visual field. There are a number of factors that affect phosphene morphology, but the basic phenomenon is almost random. Psychological and physiological factors, however, impose chaotic patterns, which can be quite beautiful despite being essentially meaningless.
